Part 2 Advent Reflections: Men in the Gospels
Two Part Online Men and Women in the Gospel Series
Thursday, 10 December 2020
8.00pm – 9.45pm
The Gospels record encounters with Jesus throughout his earthly life, from his infancy to his post-resurrection appearances. Some encounters were initiated by Jesus and some by men he intrigued. All, though, were telling.
The webinar considers the men who met with—
- The expected Messiah: The amazement of the magi, the rabbis, and John the Baptist.
- The engaged Messiah: The physical healings and spiritual conversions of the likes of Nicodemus, Levi, and Zacchaeus.
- The envied Messiah: The resistance to Jesus’ claims and salvation by the rich young ruler, Caiaphas, and Pilate.
- The Empowered Messiah: The doubt destroying encounters of Cleopas and Thomas.
Each set of encounters conveys their own lessons, reminding us that the incarnate Christ, crucified once-for-all for sinners, is now highly exalted with great power to save and to transform.
