The course will cover the book of Job, its exegesis, difficulties and value for pastoral care in all its forms. Key thematic issues will include
suffering, persevering faith, prayer and lament, the challenges of prosperity and adversity, the nature of God and his active rule of the world, and what it means to be human before God. Consideration of these issues will emerge from a study of the English text of Job, with a view to understanding the book and its usefulness in preaching and pastoral ministry.
Rev Dr Lindsay Wilson Ph.D. (University of Melbourne), 1999; M.Th. (Australian College of Theology), 1991; Diploma of Arts in Theology (Moore Theological College) Honours 1, 1987) was formerly the academic dean at Ridley Melbourne Mission and Ministry College in Australia. He is now the and senior lecturer in Old Testament. In 2019, he was appointed as the senior research fellow, Australian College of Theology. Some of the books he authored include Proverbs, Job and Suffering & The Book of Job.
