The good news of Jesus the Messiah, as told by the disciple Mark, is one of the foundations of the Christian faith. This course provides the tools needed to appreciate the depth of teaching it presents. The course includes detailed examination of key passages, broader exploration of key themes throughout the Gospel, as well as exposing students to some modern methods of interpretation.
Attention is given to Mark’s presentation of Jesus Christ. We will look at the significance of the miracles Jesus performed, and consider why Jesus chose to teach through parables. The course also explores other key themes in the Gospel; what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, and what kind of faith is needed to be his follower?
