INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
Course Description :
This course covers the historical, political, religious, and cultural background of the Intertestamental period; authorship, dating, critical issues, and content and theological themes of the books in the New Testament; and the life, ministry, and mission of Jesus and the Apostle Paul. Particular emphasis is placed on engagement with texts in their historical contexts and the development of basic exegetical skills.
Rev Dr Tan Jin Huat, an Anglican minister and a former academic dean at Seminari Theoloji Malaysia (STM), has been teaching New Testament, Homiletics and Malaysian Church History. He studied theology at Trinity College, Bristol, London School of Theology (BA), University of Aberdeen (MTh) and the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (PhD). He is author of a few publications which include ‘Preacher, Prepare Yourself’, ‘Brookes, The British and Christianity in Sarawak’ and ‘Planting an Indigenous Church: The Case of the BEM.
