Online Course “Biblical Interpretation”stmweb
The course is to provide a method whereby students can accurately interpret the Bible and correctly apply its teaching. It aims to teach students various principles of biblical interpretation that will eventually lead them to a proper understanding of these principles and to a careful application of them to personal Bible study, and to the ministry of the Word.
This is a core course and a prerequisite for Interpreting OT/NT courses.
Rev. Dr Tan Jin Huat, an Anglican minister and formerly academic dean at Seminari Theoloji Malaysia (STM), has been teaching New Testament, Homiletics and Malaysian Church History. He studied theology at Trinity College, Bristol, London School of Theology (BA), University of Aberdeen (MTh) and the Oxford Center for Mission Studies (PhD). He is author of a few publications which include ‘Preacher, Prepare Yourself’, ‘Brookes, The British and
Christianity in Sarawak’ and ‘Planting an Indigenous Church: The Case of the BEM.’
Dr. Chong Siaw Fung is trained in the fields of education (University of Malaya) and human resource development (PhD, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak), and also in theological studies specialized in the Old Testament (Princeton
Theological Seminary, New Jersey, USA). After more than 20 years in his career as a teacher, trainer, manager, and later a management consultant, he responded to God’s calling to a full-time ministry in theological education and research. He is currently serving as a lecturer in Seminari Theoloji Malaysia.
