Course Description:
This course critically surveys and discusses some of the pressing concerns in relation to the mission of the Church, especially in Asia. The topics include mission theology; shifts in global Christianity; migration and urbanisation; intercultural interactions; missional leadership; the local church and mission; partnerships and funding, A.I. and digital mission; and suffering in mission. It brings together theological, historical and socio-economic lenses to frame and understand God’s mission for the Church today.
Lecturer: Rev. Dr. Chan Nam Chen
Lecturer Biodata: Rev. Dr. Chan Nam Chen serves as director-at-large for AsiaCMS, a mission agency headquartered in Kuala Lumpur with activities currently focused on nations in South Asia and S.E. Asia. He also teaches in seminaries in Malaysia, Singapore and other parts of Asia. His PhD from Fuller Theological Seminary focuses on Missions and Leadership in Cross-cultural situations. Having been in fulltime ministry for 40+ years as a cross-cultural church planter, denominational leader and mission leader, he is very passionate about helping churches, Christian leaders, pastors and mission personnel fulfil their God-given potentials.
