Course synopsis:
This course introduces students to the origins, development, and core beliefs of Hinduism and Buddhism—two of Asia’s most influential religious traditions. Students will explore how these faiths understand ultimate reality, human destiny, suffering, and liberation. The course also examines how these worldviews influence Asian culture, ethics, and spirituality.
From a Christian theological perspective, the study encourages thoughtful reflection on points of connection and contrast with the biblical worldview. Students will be challenged to develop sensitivity, humility, and discernment in engaging adherents of these faiths in dialogue and witness.
