Currently, we only offer part-time MDiv for those having a first theological degree desiring to upgrade. We will offer the full MDiv programme beginning 2023. In the meantime, you may proceed to enrol for classes under our Master of Christian Ministry programme and upgrade to MDiv later without losing out on your credit hours.
  • What is the difference between an MDiv and an MCS/MCM degree programmes?
MDiv (equivalent to 3 years of full-time study) is typically the required degree for church ministry and ordination. Its curriculum is more comprehensive, covering courses from Biblical Studies, Theology and History, and Practical Ministry. MDiv is also a degree that is usually required for further studies.
  • Does the part-time MDiv programme prepare me for ordination?
Our MDiv degree fulfils ordination requirements. However, please consult your church leaders as to the specific requirements for ordination in your church or denomination.
  • I am not planning to be a minister or pastor in a church when I graduate. Do I have to do my field education in a church setting?
Field education is a required component of MDiv programme. It gives exposure to church ministry so that one may be involved in practical ministry and also be better equipped to serve the church.
  • What is Field Education and how do I earn the credit hours?
Field Education (FE) is your exposure to and involvement in the ministry of the church. In order to earn 1 credit hour of FE, you will need to log at least 120 hours of ministry time. This includes teaching, preaching, leading cell/small groups, attending church related meetings, visitation, preparation time for teaching/preaching, and other related activities. If you are already involved in the ministry of the church, there would be not much problem to fulfil this requirement. For further information, please click here to see the template used in assessing your FE.
