Occasionally, you may come across resources with the status or call number: "On Display", "In Process", "Stacks" or the name of a donor. This means that they are not yet ready for borrowing.
a) On Display
Location: Upper Level
Description: These are the latest catalogued items which are put on display for one week before being shelved.
Loan period: No borrowing while on display; may be reserved online and borrowed after the one-week display period is over.
Please return items to the display shelf after use.
b) In Process
Description: These are items which are in the process of being catalogued and prepared for display.
Terms for use:
- Please seek staff assistance if you wish to refer to books "in process"
- Books "in process" with item numbers may be reserved online and borrowed after the usual cataloguing and display period is over.
c) Stacks Collection (Closed Stacks)
Location: Lower Level
Description: These are books kept in storage due to limited demand and space constraints.
Terms for use:
- Please seek staff assistance if you wish to refer to books kept in the Closed Stacks
- Strictly for reference use in the Library only
- Please return directly to the Library staff after use
- If necessary, you may request for Stacks items to be processed for borrowing; this may take several days. Priority is given to faculty members and thesis-writing students.
d) Donor Collection
Description: These are books kept in storage due to limited demand and space constraints.
Terms for use:
- Please seek staff assistance if you wish to refer to books with donor names as call numbers
- Strictly for reference use in the Library only
- Please return directly to the Library staff after use
- If necessary, you may request for donor collection items to be processed for borrowing; this may take several days.
