Restrictions in Using the Library

For more information, please refer to the Library Rules and Regulations.

a) General Restrictions
  • No bags, food or water allowed into the main Library area. Shelves are provided by the Library Entrance (Upper Level) to store these items.
  • Please remove your footwear and leave them neatly on the racks provided outside the Library Entrance (Upper Level).
  • Mobile phones are to be switched off or set to silent mode while using the Library. Any calls are to be made/received outside the Library.
  • Children under 10 years of age must be supervised by their parents or guardians at all times. 
b) Area Restrictions
  • No entry into the Circulation Desk area (Upper Level) with the exception of student librarians on duty.
  • No entry into the Staff Workroom (Upper Level).
  • No entry into the Archives (Upper Level) without permission; please seek staff assistance.
  • No entry into the Closed Stacks (Lower Level); please seek staff assistance.
  • No entry into the Store Room (Lower Level) under the Ramp. 
c) Dress Code
Please abide by the STM student dress code while using the Library during Library office hours from 8:30 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. According to the STM Student Handbook …
  • Students are to dress neatly, appropriately and modestly at all times in public areas of the Seminary.
  • Clothes should be clean and tidy at all times.
  • Slippers, sandals and flip-flops are not appropriate. (This is not applicable to the Library where footwear is not allowed at all times)
  • Sleeveless apparel and hot pants are not acceptable at all times.
  • For men: Only collared T-shirts and custom costumes are allowed … in public areas.
  • For ladies: Dresses or skirts should be knee-length; shirts and blouses with sleeves are acceptable.
