Using “MY LOANS”

This option helps registered library users to keep track of loan activities and renew loans online.

  • Click the My Loans option on the VLib main menu
  • The Member logon screen will appear
  • Key in your MemberID; i.e. your NRIC or passport number (without dashes, e.g. 940331085129)
  • Key in your Password, if you have one. If you have not created a password for yourself, leave the box empty. To create (or change) a password, click on Forgot Password
  • Press the Enter key or click on the Logon button to access the My Loans screen
At the end of your session, please click Logoff member at the top of the My Loans screen if you are using a public computer so that others accessing the same computer immediately after you will not be able to see the details of your loan activities. You can also click the Member Logoff option on the VLib main menu. There will be an automatic logoff or system time out after the computer has not been used for a few minutes.

a) To view and renew loans
On the My Loans screen, you will be able to view the titles that are currently on loan to you and the due dates, including titles that are overdue.
Users who provide an active email address upon registration will receive an autogenerated “loans due” notice from VLib two days before the due date.
Note: Autogenerated email notices are an extra service provided by the VLib system. Users are solely responsible for checking their loan activities; the Library is not liable for non-delivery or non-receipt of autogenerated notices.
Renewing loans:
  • The number (0, 1 or 2) in the Material Type/Renewal column refers to the number of times you have renewed the item (maximum 2 times).
  • To renew your loans, tick the Renew in the Item No. column of each item you wish to renew (or tick the Renew all box if you want to renew all your loans)
  • Then click the Renew button
  • A system message listing each loan renewal and the new due dates should appear.
  • You may also receive a renewal failure message in the following situations:
-- you have exceeded your loan renewal limit;
-- the item is overdue;
-- the item has been reserved by another user.
Important: Please refresh the My Loans page after completing loan renewals to ensure that VLib has properly registered your transaction!

b) To check or cancel item reservations

Items you have reserved will be displayed on the My Loans screen. If an item is ready for collection, it will be marked READY.
Users who provide an active email address upon registration will also receive an autogenerated pick-up notice from VLib when the item is ready.
Note: Autogenerated email notices are an extra service provided by the VLib system. Users are solely responsible for checking their loan activities; the Library is not liable for non-delivery or non-receipt of autogenerated notices.
Cancelling reservations:
  • You may cancel your pending reservations by clicking on the Cancel button.
  • A system message "Reservation is now cancelled!" will appear.
  • You cannot cancel reservations that are ready for collection; you will receive the following system message: "Reserved item is ready for collection. Please contact library staff to cancel!"

c) To view charges and messages

  • Charges: Any fines or other charges that you have accumulated (e.g. damaged items, etc.) will be displayed here.
  • Messages: Notes to you from the library staff will be displayed here.
