1. Doing research in STM Library
a) We are pleased to make our resources available for your research upon request. Where possible, you are encouraged to use the Library for reference only, i.e. NO borrowing. However, subject to evidence of need and the approval of the Head of Library, you may register as an external borrower, with the relevant charges levied.
b) In return for the use of our facilities and resources, we may request that you deposit a copy of your completed research project (publication, thesis, report, etc.) in STM Library to enable us to serve and benefit other users.
c) All users are required to abide by the rules and regulations of STM Library.
 
2. External borrower categories and membership period
a) STM Part-time/TEE students (officially registered for credit study programmes): 5 years
b) STM Postgraduate Students (MMin, DMin, MTh, DTh): 5 years
c) STM Alumni: 10 years
d) Other Seminaries (Students, Faculty): 5 years
e) Full-time Workers (Pastors, Church Workers, Staff from Christian Organisations, Retired Clergy): 5 years
f) Scholars/Researchers: 2 years
 
3. Requirements
Those applying for external borrower status are required to complete an online registration form and provide one or more of the following:
a) Proof of student status and/or payment for course registration
b) Proof of identity and/or vocation
c) Letter of introduction from the applicant's church, organisation or institution, stating why borrowing privileges are required.

4. Loan limits and charges
There are 2 tiers available, which are applicable for all categories:
a) TIER 1: 4 items loan limit - RM200 
b) TIER 2: 8 items loan limit - RM300
 
5. Validity and termination of membership
Membership is valid for the number of years stipulated for the relevant category. Persons may renew their membership so long as they remain within one of the relevant categories. Membership is terminated in the following circumstances:
a) Persons cease to be in a category that is eligible for membership. Membership terminates on the membership expiry date.
b) Persons fail to renew their membership when it expires, and cannot be contacted. In such cases, membership will automatically terminate after one year of non-response.
c) Personal cancellation of membership, effective immediately.
d) Disciplinary action by the Library, effective immediately. 
 
6. Membership records
a) All members’ records are confidential and maintained strictly for administrative purposes. Records will be retained for one year following the termination of membership, after which the record will be deleted and/or disposed of accordingly. However, the Library reserves the right to extend the retention period, if necessary (e.g. outstanding debts, etc.)
b) It is the responsibility of members to inform the Library of any change in their membership data, especially with regard to contact details and any other information affecting their membership status.
